Msgr. Farrell Highschool Taken By Jason Leavy (Summer 2011)
A place that shows a lot of visual when observing is Msgr. Farrell High school
located on Staten Island. When I visited my old school I finally just sat down and
looked at the building and surroundings and noticed that there were a lot of vibrant
colors, the shading of the brick, the bright saturation of the autumn leaves, and how
the sunlight reflected onto the building itself creating an outdoor illumination which
means the sky and the walls of the building are light. All recessed areas like the doors
and especially the windows, are in the shade which makes that region dark.
When looking around the campus of the school I've noticed a lot of different
colors. for example the orange/ red of the leaves, the bright green turf coming from
the football field and how the light from the sky brought upon shadows. I arrived at
the school when the kids were exiting the building so there were a lot of laughing,
and fun conversations going. In some cases I felt a sense of relief from the students
because school was over.
This school was very important to me because it made me a better man and
helped me active my goal at the time, which was to get into a great college. It was
and still is considered to be my second home because the teachers help there students so
that they can succeed in life. Whenever i come back to visit it feels like i never left. This
places gave me great memories that I will cherish for a life time.
